Social Network Marketing

Social Network Marketing is a huge growth area at the moment and many of the common social networking sites such as Facebook, Bebo, Myspace, Digg etc have become household names. Traditionally the arena of younger internet users, they are now used by people of all ages.

In recent surveys, many small businesses stated that they planned to increase their use of marketing on social network sites. Most of these businesses will probably consider increasing their paid advertising on these sites but there is another way to use them to increase your business.

social networks

Networking in the traditional, offline business sense of the word involves developing relationships with people in order to develop your business. Referrals are passed amonsgst people that know and trust each other.

In many sense, exactly the same is true of social networking online. Many of the social network media are still relatively unknown to many small businesses and network marketers but all that is about to change.

Thousands of people are currently developing relationships through social networking sites in order to develop their "brand". In many cases this might be their small business but increasingly this relates to individuals developing themselves as their brand.

Take for instance the Network Marketing field. Whilst many people believe in the business model itself, they are put off by the traditional methods of recruiting new customers and distributors. People are becoming more and more discerning and whilst a product might interest them in the network marketing arena, the thought of duplicating their upline in making a list of 200 people, calling them, chasing their friends and family who have absolutely no interest in what they are doing turns them straight off.

But, there is another way. Rather than promoting our product or business opportunity, hundreds of network marketers like me are promoting themselves. As fabulous as my business opportunity might be, if the methods I use in my business are antiquated and too difficult for you, there is no way that you will join me. Instead, you will either give up altogether or find someone else to work with.

Particularly in the current economic climate, thousands of people are searching the internet for ways to make money online. Social networking enables network marketers to fill the Internet with valuable content and information for people to find. There is no need to pester people that aren't looking for what you are doing anymore; hundreds of people are looking for you.

In much the same way as you need to cultivate relationships with people in the real world, you need to cultivate relationships with people online. This means:

Firstly getting them to find you

Secondly developing a natural dialogue with them, giving them information that makes them want to find out more about you

Thirdly developing a relationship with them so that they trust and like you

Fourthly listening to find out what solutions they are looking for

Finally providing value so that they can see how you might be able to help them

Only once someone has found out for themselves the value that you are able to provide for them might they consider becoming your customer or joining you in your business.

So How Can Social Network Marketing Help Me?

Through social networking sites your message can reach hundreds or thousands of people at the same time. No need to speak to people one at a time to develop relationships. Now you can do this with hundreds of people at the same time, 24 hours a day!

There is a whole host of training that you have access to through me on how you can actually begin to interact with people through some of the social networking sites.

So many people are doing this wrong so it is very easy to stand out from the crowd. They sign up to a social networking account, invite lots of people to be their friends and continue to use the self same methods of putting people off as traditional network marketers do offline. i.e "Nice to meet you, how would you like to buy my product/join my business?"

Having lots of friends in social networking is only of use if you are able to position yourself as someone who is knowledgeable and willing to share information that they can actually see how to use.

Take Twitter for Example

Twitter is one of the fastest growing social network sites at the moment. It is the site with the largest growth and is an ideal medium to get to know whilst it is still relatively unknown. If you are able to establish yourself in Twitter over the coming months, by the time it reaches the masses, you will be someone that others will be attracted to.

If you are new to Social Network Marketing you may or may not have heard of Twitter yet. If you have, you may not see how it can have any relevance at all to your business.

This is an amazing marketing tool if used right and many people on our team are having great results with it.

Don't believe me? Take a look at this FREE Twitter training posted by Mike Klingler. This is a wonderful step by step introduction to Twitter. I suggest you watch the 3rd video first. It is the shortest and explains why you should be getting into this now.
